Slim, elegant-looking professional citrus juicer is what I would describe this Hamilton Beach 932 as. This tall (20”) citrus juicer is the cream of manual juicers with that friendly lever and simple design to get you the most out of a citrus fruit.

Hamilton Beach 932 Commercial Citrus Juicer

Designed for Best Juicing
I really like it that the strainer has a lot of little holes all around so the juice gets through without trouble. The pulp can be collected and left out or put into the juice afterwards as you like. Many users have commented that less citrus oil is tasted in the juice so the juice is not bitter at all, and I realized this is the case too.

This Hamilton Beach 932 takes no time to clean and keeps your countertop spotless with its drip cup. When you remove the juice glass, the drip cup will swing into place to prevent any remainder of the juice staining your countertop. I find it very easy to disassemble too.

One thing to note is that this citrus juicer is really tall and not suitable for using or storing under your kitchen cabinets. Although this gadget is rather light and can be easily carried around, if you don’t have the space, you might just regret it.

A couple of reviewers said that the Hamilton Beach 923 seems breakable if you press too hard on the lever, but it hasn’t been a problem for me because I think it works really well getting all the juice out of the fruits even when I’m not pressing very hard.

If you like fresh fruit juice from citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges, and even grapefruits, without the white stuff in it, this is a pretty good juicer to get.

Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Pro JLPJB

by Mike on December 6, 2010

Being a reviewer means having the opportunity to try out the many different products in the market at zero cost and I am tremendously lucky to have this godsend blessing! Before the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro, I have been using the Jack Lalanne’s JLSS Power Juicer Deluxe at home and trying my best not being a bias, I would still prefer the latter model mentioned.

Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Pro JLPJB

Having said this, it does not mean that the Power Juicer Pro is not good enough but as the saying goes, “one man’s meat is another man’s poison.” It all goes back to how you intend on using the juicer and on what material you wish to juice. Unlike Power Juicer Deluxe, Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro comes with a stainless steel mesh filter that stops smaller pulp particles from coming through hence the juice produced is finer and has a smoother texture. This is certainly the major advantage of this juicer as it is the only power juicer having this feature. Therefore, making food such as nut butter and such is super delicious and yummy because the texture of the nut butter is extremely smooth! I could practically make it every day to goes with all my desserts!

In addition, this juicer is also dishwasher safe hence the easy cleaning which is absolutely suitable for lazy people who are tired of having to clean the juicer each time after usage. Surprisingly the white housing of the juicer is effortlessly easy to be clean as well. A simple stroke of cloth is all it needs to become back to its shiny and sparkly state. Furthermore, the 3600 rpm high induction motor and stainless steel blades devotes to efficient operation with a minimal noise level. It also has a huge 3-inch chute which means that you don’t have to cut the fruits and vegetables into smaller chunks to juice. Preparation time is definitely lessened with this wonderful feature. Take note, however, that there have been complaints about motor failure but these are not the norm. When handled with care and attention, this juicer can go a long way in your kitchen utensils lifespan!

When all’s said and done, I would still prefer other models over this but in terms of pricing wise, this device over here is without doubt a better choice. Pretty yet inexpensive, Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Pro is something everyone should try out!

Jack Lalanne JLSS Power Juicer

by Mike on December 5, 2010

Another great power blender that I manage to try out would be the Jack Lalanne’s JLSS Power Juicer Deluxe Stainless-Steel Electric Juicer. Pretty as it looks, this electric juicer produces fresh juice remarkably fast- which is totally suitable for a hectic lifestyle like mine. Before I tried this juicer, all I did to make up for the unhealthy food I have outside is just by consuming the purported fresh juices from the local mart which is often laden with sugar, preservatives and many other artificial ingredients. Therefore my mum would start nagging at me hysterically for leading such damaging lifestyle hence the juicer ended up on my kitchen top.

Jack Lalanne JLSS Power Juicer

Juicing could turn out to be quick and easy with the right tool ware and for me, I personally find that Jack Lalanne’s JLSS Power Juicer Deluxe Stainless-Steel Electric Juicer completes my chaotic way of life. It only took me about 15 minutes daily to produce out a wonderful glass of fresh fruit juice. This juicer which uses patented extraction technology helps to protect vital enzymes and nutrients of the fruits so one will get all the goodness fruits and vegetables have to offer.

Besides that, the high performance of 3600 rpm induction motor promises easy application even for hard fruits and vegetables like nuts and apples. And best of all, this juicer is certainly the quietest juicer that I had so far so even if I were to wake up at 3 a.m. in the morning and start juicing at such ungodly hour, I am positively sure that my neighbors would hear nothing of it!

Furthermore the lifetime motor warranty of this juicer offers peace of mind for every user out there especially my family as we practically use this juicer every single day. We have been using it for about 6 months and so far everything seem to be fine and touch wood that it will maintain as such in years to come!

However there is always a downside to every up and according to the official webpage of this juicer, it claimed to have a non-drip spout but I somehow find mine to be somewhat of the opposite. Moreover, this juicer is also not suitable in juicing leafy products as my mum tried juicing the wheatgrass but ended up with very little juice. Just as a reminder this juicer is also not dishwater safe hence users out there please be mindful on not to accidentally place it in the dishwasher unknowingly. All in all, I am still very happy with this juicer.

Champion G5 PG720 Juicer Review

by Mike on November 11, 2010

Champion G5-PG710 or Champion G5-PG720

When I first got hold of this juicer, I was practically stunned for a moment or two; flabbergasted by the unique design and appearance of this very product. Initially I was rather reluctant to purchase it because of how it looks and the enormous size would most probably occupy half of my kitchen top space. Yet somehow I ended up getting it from the display shelf unit as the lady there recommended me this for heavy duty usage purpose. After a considerable duration of using the juicer at home, to my amazement, I find it to be one of the best juicers that I have ever stumbled upon.

Champion G5 PG710

The heavy duty motor of 1/3 horsepower which could operates continuously with the help of the floating cutter is an added advantage. This is because no intermittent cleaning is required as the juice is directly separated from the pulp when the juicing takes place. By having this feature, I could practically save up almost half the time on the preparation process which is the main reason why I fancy this juicer a lot! Unlike any other juicers, the Champion Juicers also has a large feeding chamber which enable easy application even if the fruits and vegetables are not diced into smaller pieces. This is definitely something I look upon deeply as I am a very lazy person. By having this feature, I don’t have to waste time cutting up my fruits and vegetables into smaller portions to be put in the juicer. Basically a whole fruit or a whole vegetable could be place into the funnel at ease!

Furthermore, to be frankly honest, after a few times of usage I find the sturdy built of this Champion juicer somewhat assuring as the strong stainless steel body seem to be able to thwart off any daily wears and tears. My parents who fell in love with frozen banana and pineapple said that the Champion Juicer is all they need to make this scrumptious and delightful concoction.

With a whopping 10 years warranty, this juicer certainly captures the heart of many users nationwide even though the price of it is a little more expensive compared to others in the market.

After trying out on the Champion G5-PG710/ G5-PG720, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone out there who plans on getting a new juicer. It produces amazing results and best of all, it is healthy and rich with nutrients.

Types of Juicer

by Mike on November 2, 2010

There are actually quite a few types of juicers out there, so you have to know which kind you need to buy. When we were shopping for our Breville, we were so overcome by the fact that there were so many types of juicers that my girlfriend and I had to ask the sales person to repeat everything twice or thrice to ensure we got it all. Here’s a quick guide to help you get started!
Citrus Juicers

Citrus Juicer

Citrus Juicer

These are the most basic juicers. Citrus juicers are also really cheap, especially the manual ones that require you to use good ol’ arm power to get your juice done. All you have to do is to ream the citrus fruit against the cone to squeeze out the juice. However, this type of juicer only works with citrus fruit like limes, lemons, oranges and grapefruit.

Buy this type if:

  • You only want to juice citrus fruits.
  • You have pretty good arm power, or you don’t mind wasting a bit of juice.
  • You only want a really cheap and basic juicer.

I recommend: Black & Decker CJ525 CitrusMate Plus Citrus Juicer (Review)

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal Juicer

Centrifugal Juicer

Centrifugal juicers are the most common and affordable type of juicer. They work by using blades to cut up fruit and vegetable into tiny pieces before spinning the bits against a fine mesh to strain juice out using…you guessed it, centrifugal force! They don’t work very well with leafy vegetables however because centrifugal force is just not enough to squeeze out what little moisture there is in leaves.

Get this type of juicer if:

  • You want to juice other kinds of fruits besides citrus fruits.
  • You want to juice veggies like carrots, cucumbers and celery.
  • You want to juice without wasting much strength (just press button!)
  • You don’t need to juice leafy veggies and wheatgrass.

I recommend: Acme Supreme Juicerator 5001 (Review)

Single Gear Masticating Juicers

Single Gear Masticating Juicer

Single Gear Masticating Juicer

This kind of juicers are slightly more expensive but well worth it I think because their motors operate at really low speeds, which helps the fruit and veggies retain as many nutrients as possible during the juicing process. They crush the fruit and veggies into pulp before squeezing it for juice, so you can also make mushy foods like nut butters, sorbet, pasta and baby food with this kind of juicers.

This type of juicer is for you if:

  • You want to juice different kinds of fruits and veggies including leafy veggies.
  • You want more nutrients in your juice.
  • You want less juice to be wasted.
  • You also want to make mushy foods.
  • You don’t mind paying more for these.

I recommend: Omega 8003/8005 Juicer (Review)

Twin Gear Triturating Juicers

Twin Gear Triturating Juicer

Twin Gear Triturating Juicer

These are also quite expensive, because like single gear masticating juicers, they operate at very low speeds, producing less foam and retain more nutrients in the juice after the juicing. They have interlocking twin gears, which work in tandem to press out the juice without heating it to ensure that fewer enzymes and nutrients are killed in the process. Some of these can juice wheatgrass as well.

Or you can get this type if:

  • You want to juice all kinds of fruits and veggies.
  • You don’t want to waste any juice.
  • You want your juice to be rich in enzymes and nutrients.
  • You don’t mind paying more for these.

I recommend: Green Power Twin Gear Juicer KPE 1304 (Review)

Wheatgrass Juicers

Wheatgrass Juicer

Wheatgrass Juicer

Wheatgrass juicers can be electrical or manual. Basically they are leaf juicers, and as such usually not used to juice anything other than herbs or leafy vegetables like wheatgrass.

You definitely should get this type if:

  • You only want to juice wheatgrass or leafy veggies. But some wheatgrass juicers can juice fruits as well. (check reviews and descriptions before you buy!)
  • You have a flexible budget.

I recommend: Omega 8003/8005 Juicer (Review)

The Omega VRT330 is a newer single masticating juicer model from Omega than the J8006, with a smaller footprint, taller body and generally nicer looks, in my opinion.

Omega VRT330 Dual-Stage Vertical Single-Auger Low-Speed Juicer

This is also a low speed juicer that gets a lot more juice out of the fruits than citrus and centrifugal juicers, and most people like this kind of juicer because it retains the nutrients in the juice. The low speed also meant that the fruits go through less heat and oxidization in the process, and the juice that comes out tastes much better.

“When I took my first sip of carrot juice I could tell the difference immediately. I couldn’t figure out how to describe it though, it’s both juice from a carrot, how can one taste so different…The juice from the centrifugal machines taste as if it was watered down compared to the juice from the Omega Vert. When I took my first sip of apple juice, there was no comparisons, the taste was so crisp and fresh, actually like taking a bite from an apple. I was amazed at the difference.” – Jimmy Morelli

The Omega VRT330 is quite sturdily built, feels heavy and happily for its buyers, covered by full warranty for 10 years. I think that this will make more people feel better for paying the price – which is not exactly cheap – than just having a great juicer that works for a couple years.

The reason I didn’t buy this juicer is because I’m always on the go. I can’t be bothered to cut up fruits and veggies more than once or twice (so I need a larger feed tube). The washing time for this juicer is quick though. The pulp ejecting feature saves you time and running clear water through once or twice after juicing will make cleaning easier. Only one part needs to be brushed afterward.

Wow, if you like to drink only wheatgrass, this manual wheatgrass juicer is the best juicer to have. The Hurricane Stainless Steel Manual Wheatgrass Juicer can juice wheatgrass like no other!

Hurricane Stainless Steel Manual Wheatgrass Juicer

I’m not a fan of wheatgrass juice myself, but I do know that my Breville and most other juicers cannot juice wheatgrass well; you need a special kind of juicer for that. If you are into hard fruits and veggies like carrots as well as wheatgrass, then you’re better off with a masticating juicer like the Omega 8005, which cost well over $200. But what about those who like only wheatgrass? This Hurricane Stainless Steel Manual Wheatgrass Juicer is only a little over $100.

This tiny little juicer is made of stainless steel parts, which is great value for the money, don’t you think? The compact size and manual operation makes it really portable! You only have to find a table top to clamp it on.

The very best thing about this wheatgrass juicer is that it only takes one minute to wash. So for your daily shot of wheatgrass juice, just clamp on the juicer, place a bowl under the spout, then run the wheatgrass through by cranking the lever. Catch the pulp with your hand and run it through again for good measure! Then just undo the cap, handle and gear, and rinse them clean. How easy is that?

Only one complain is found among the users and that is this juicer cannot juice hard veggies like carrots, unless you cut up the carrots into very small bits. I think this is mainly just a wheatgrass juicer, you might be able to juice leafy greens and soft fruits like tomatoes, but it is definitely not cut out for the job of juicing carrots.

So, wheatgrass lovers, get this Hurricane Stainless Steel Manual Wheatgrass Juicer for your daily juice!

This awesome juicer is the sibling of Omega J8005, a masticating juicer that crushes the fruit or veggie into pulp before getting the juice out of it. Do you know this means more nutrients in the fruit juice?

Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer

This intimidating-looking juicer is the best choice for those of you who are on a juice diet. The auger turns only 80rpm, causing less heat and oxidization to the fruits, so nutrients don’t get killed.

I remember seeing the Omega J8006 at a store and the lady was demonstrating and giving out free juice drinks. She very kindly let me try out the juicer.

First impression I got was that the feed tube is much smaller than my Breville. Only about 1.5 inches. The lady explained that by cutting up the fruit/veggie into smaller pieces, less of it will go to waste in the juicer. Well, I suppose that’s true, but maybe I’m just not the type who like to go into the extra step.

Anyway I tried out this juicer with apples. And oh boy! The apple juice was wonderful! Unlike using centrifugal juicers, there was almost no foam at all. It tasted really good (probably because without all the foam) and didn’t turn brown as soon as the apple juice from centrifugal juicers.

And really, nothing goes to waste in this juicer. The Omega J8006 squeezes every bit of juice out of the fruits. The pulp is really dry. This juicer can juice practically anything! Soft fruits, hard fruits, and wheatgrass? No problem.

The only thing I didn’t like about masticating juicers is that they are less quick to clean than my best juicer. If you don’t have a busy life like mine, this might be the juicer for you.

Tribest Citrus Juicer

by Mike on August 18, 2010

If you are really into citrus juice, and the cheap citrus juicers are just not powerful enough for you, maybe the Tribest Citrus Juicer will make you really happy.

Tribest Citrus Juicer

This could have the most powerful motor I’ve seen on an electric citrus juicer yet. Me and my girlfriend, we were very into citrus juicers when we were in college, because poor college students like us couldn’t afford expensive juicers like centrifugal or masticating juicers!

The Tribest Citrus Juicer can juice an orange quite fast, which is good because you know how fast citrus juices oxidize due to their very high vitamin C content. I saw this juicer in a sale and the salesman was demonstrating how to juice. He juiced an orange in a few seconds!

I remember the time my girlfriend held a party and she tried to make lemonade for 20 people. I bet she’d wish she had this juicer instead of her Black & Decker then, though the B&D is half the price of this one.

The stainless steel strainer keeps the pulp and seeds away from the juice, but some pulp still gets into the juice, which is nice because eating some pulp is good for your body fiber content. And pulp is what makes the juice tasty and natural!

The reamers come in two sizes for different citrus fruits – the smaller one for lemons and limes and the bigger one for oranges and grapefruits. And there’s an attachment on the spout that stops the juice from dripping when you want to change glasses. However, I note from other reviews that this feature tend to break easily.

I guess at this kind of price you can’t get everything to be perfect. It’s more powerful than others, fast, easy to use and clean, and it’s only $39! So what more can you ask for, really?

Strange Fruit Juices

by Mike on February 19, 2010

Have you ever heard of the Noni fruit? Or the Himalayan goji? How about the mangosteen (Tried this one before though!)? Well, neither have I. Until I was surfing online for juice recipe ideas, and found these fruit online. Apparently they have super nutritional benefits and are gaining popularity the world over.
Best Juicer - Juicer Reviews
This is Himalayan goji. They are small berries that grow in the Himalayas (duh!). Anyway, these berries are so prized because they are very high in antioxidants, which reverse the effects of saturated fats in our diet. You can find these in various forms in Asian supermarkets, as Asians have been aware of their health properties for quite some time. Add goji to your homemade juice for an antioxidant boost like no other!
Best Juicer - Juicer Reviews
Noni grows in tropical climates and can be found in Tahiti, Indonesia and other tropical countries. It’s also known as the cheese fruit and tastes bitter. However, it’s really high in vitamin C, and is really good for you. If you’re bored of normal juice, add Tahitian noni juice into your juice concoctions for that tropical twist.
Best Juicer - Juicer Reviews
My last strange fruit is the mangosteen. My girlfriend says it looks pretty cute, and I personally have tried it in Asia and it tastes really great. Very sweet and tangy. I haven’t been able to make juice out of them myself because you can’t just feed these into a juicer, but I have bought mangosteen juice before and mixed it into my normal juice mix. Reminds me of holidays under the sun! :)
So go ahead and try adding some strange fruit into your home made juicer juice. Nice. :)
